These are the solid figures backing national insurance company Fidea. The result of an equally solid growth story based on a broad range of insurance products and sophisticated concepts, and the accomplishment of the head office in Antwerp, the regional office Braîne-l’Alleud and a close-knit network of brokers.
The reason why Tyneso & Fidea were a good match
After the demerger from KBC in 2013, Fidea is now a completely independent player on the Belgian market. Because the KBC infrastructure was also no longer available, Fidea was looking for the perfect IT match. We needed a partner that spoke the same language in terms of efficiency and value for money. And that’s when Tyneso came into the picture.
The challenges
Until 2012 Fidea was a part of KBC, but the financial crisis changed everything. The European Union required KBC to let go of Fidea as a compensation for government support. This is how Fidea was picked up by the private equity fund JC Flowers. Fidea used to work with the KBC IT infrastructure, but that was no longer possible for obvious reasons. Time for their own, innovated IT environment and a cooperation with a new partner. An RFP led Fidea to Tyneso. Not the largest IT company, but a capable party with lots of expertise and a proven track record.
Fidea’s wishes were clear: start from zero and build up an IT infrastructure in no time. Tyneso accepted the challenge with a passion, the start of a great collaboration.

Implementation
Implementing a new IT infrastructure requires exactly what professionals like Tyneso can offer. You have to do this step by step, with a clear plan of approach and control over each phase. The first crucial task was the transfer of data, such as all mailboxes and files. This was completed in one weekend. But … Fidea did not have its own data centre.
And transferring data without a data centre is impossible, so Tyneso suggested hosting a server environment via a partner. Good thinking solved the issue. After that Tyneso installed Outlook, a WLAN connection and private cloud. And to make sure that this implementation and transition phase would go smoothly, a Tyneso employee was permanently present at the offices during the first year. It’s so typical Tyneso, where modern technology and service go hand in hand.

After the first successful experience in 2013, Fidea and Tyneso started to work even more closely together. In 2017-2018, Fidea moved to a new office in Antwerp and Tyneso equipped the entire building with the latest IT infrastructure. Flexible working, or “the new way of working”, was a must, therefore the use of laptops was further intensified. This made it possible for Fidea employees to work securely from anywhere, while having constant access to all the necessary documents, tools, insurance software, office environment, etc.
But that’s not all. Fidea appreciates Tyneso very much as a partner and chose to work with the IT company again just before Fidea’s recent takeover by Baloise.
